Green Earth Aerogel Technologies Ltd. directly produces aerogels from it’s production sites from aboard. In this manner the company indirectly promotes food production by using agricultural waste materials from rice as raw materials to produce high value products such as aerogels. The base materials for the final products are relatively cheap and abundant and at the same time promote food production. Unlike corn which is used to produce biofuels, aerogel from rice husk does not compete for food versus fuel but rather promotes more food production. The more food produced the cheaper and more abundant the raw material becomes. Though the raw materials of aerogels can be produced from mining silica sand, this other source, this does not promote environmentally friendly technologies because mining can cause severe damage to the environment. The company indirectly promotes the use of biofuels since these products are raw materials used in the production of aerogels.
